One of the partnerships that truly reflects that spirit is with Ruby’s Pantry, a program dedicated to helping individuals and families facing food insecurity throughout our region.
Ruby’s Pantry’s mission is to provide affordable groceries to those in rural communities by partnering with food manufacturers to distribute surplus and overproduced food — food that might otherwise go to waste. Through this effort, Ruby’s Pantry not only supports families in need but also creates meaningful opportunities for faith-based communities to connect with and serve their neighbors.
Operating on a unique “pop-up” model, Ruby’s Pantry hosts monthly distribution events where anyone can receive a generous bundle of groceries for a $25 donation, regardless of income or residency. It’s a simple, dignified, and impactful way to make sure food reaches those who need it most.
Here at Jefferson County Fair Park, we’re honored to support this important mission by offering our space and resources to host these distributions. Our grounds provide a convenient, accessible, and welcoming location for volunteers and guests to gather — and we’re proud to help make that connection possible.
Each month, the Ruby’s Pantry event at Fair Park brings together dozens of volunteers and hundreds of households, all united by a shared sense of compassion and community. An average event will provide product for 500 to 700 people. So, you can quickly see why this partnership is more than an event — it’s a reflection of what community truly means: neighbors supporting neighbors, kindness in action, and collaboration that makes a real difference.
